ATT Stores out of White iPhones, iTunes activations are offline
News as we left the ATT store in Seattle’s Pacific Place Mall was the store had already sold out of the coveted 16GB White iPhone 3G model. Don’t worry, I got one. The store manager said he’d have more stock on Saturday.
In worse news, the iTunes activation service is down. I’m the proud owner of a $300 brick that will cost me $90/month to keep for 2 years. I couldn’t be happier …
We did get a chance to take a new 3G model for a spin while we were waiting in line. It’s an iPhone alright, download speeds are faster, although the 3G network is a little bursty at times.
Now more than 300 people are lined up at the ATT store at Pacific Place in Seattle, undoubtedly eager to get their hands on iPhone 3G when it goes on sale about 30 minutes from now. The store has been covered with blanking paper since late last night. Rumors is they’ve blown up some balloons.
The company I work for, whitepages.com, apparently has some fans among the faithful here in line.
“I’m not even from here,” said an unknown 15-year old. “My parents and I are from Reno and we’re staying at a hotel down the street.” He also left us this video.
